Chaplet of Saint Rafqa

A Devotional Prayer to the Lebanese Maronite Saint

Opening Prayer

O Lord Jesus Christ, You granted Saint Rafqa the grace to share deeply in Your suffering and
to radiate Your love through her silence, patience, and sacrifice.

Through her intercession, grant me the grace to carry my own cross with faith and love. Amen.

On the First Bead
Saint Rafqa, flower of Lebanon and bride of the Cross, pray for us.

On Each of the 10 Beads

Saint Rafqa, humble servant of Christ,
intercede for us and teach us to suffer with love.

Optional Prayer After Each Decade

O Saint Rafqa, by your wounds and hidden pain, heal the wounds of our souls. Amen.
Closing Prayer
Saint Rafqa, faithful daughter of Lebanon, you chose suffering to be united with Jesus.
You endured blindness and pain with serenity and offered your life in silence and prayer.

We turn to you in our trials and ask for your powerful intercession.
Help us trust in God’s plan and find joy even in the midst of suffering.
Through your prayers, may we grow in holiness and peace. Amen.

How to Pray a Chaplet (General Steps)

1. Choose the Chaplet You Want to Pray

Each chaplet has its own set of prayers and intention. You can pick:

  • The Divine Mercy Chaplet

  • A Saint’s Chaplet (e.g., St. Rafqa, St. Michael, etc.)

  • The Seven Sorrows Chaplet

  • Or a personal version with prayers you choose

2. Use a Set of Beads (Rosary or Specific Chaplet Beads)

Most chaplets follow a format similar to the Rosary:

  • Crucifix: Opening prayer (like the Apostles' Creed or a personal intention)

  • Large beads: Usually “Our Father” or another special prayer

  • Small beads: Often “Hail Marys,” “Jesus I trust in You,” or specific refrains

3. Begin with the Sign of the Cross

"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

4. Opening Prayers

Say an intention for the chaplet—what or who you’re praying for. You may start with:

  • The Apostles’ Creed

  • An Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be

5. Main Chaplet Prayers

Each chaplet has a repeated structure (like decades in the Rosary). For example:

Divine Mercy Chaplet:

  • On large beads: “Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ…”

  • On small beads: “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”

Repeat this for 5 decades (10 small beads each).

6. Closing Prayers

Most chaplets end with a final prayer or doxology. For Divine Mercy, you would say:

"Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world." (3x)

You may add a personal thanksgiving or intercession at the end.
